I played a LOT of PokémonGo this year. Again.
Got to see Piff the Magic Dragon perform, which was amazing and hilarious and a show I would absolutely love to see again :D
I joined a D&D campaign run by my friend Chris! It’s been a lot of fun, and artwork for it is definitely on my 2020 to-do list :D
This one counts for two of 2019’s highlights: finally getting to attend Charlie Berens’s live show (which was absolutely hilarious!), and getting to meet him in person a few months later (super nice guy! But then again, he is from the midwest)
I traveled! Twice! Farther than I’ve ever been before! 2018 me did not see that coming. 2020 me is hoping there’s more in the near future.
I survived my first business trip! It was quite the experience, and one I wouldn’t mind having again.
My sister and I traveled to Pasadena to attend Light Box Expo! Guess who managed to get VERY dehydrated on day one? (It was me. Mary was smart and carried a water bottle with her while I thought I could get by with the venue water coolers. NOPE.) It was incredible to get to attend so many great talks and meet so many of my favorite artists—I definitely hope to return! Also, for someone who had previously never been farther west than Houston, flying over the desert was a breathtaking experience.
Often times it was the small things—like a bonfire with friends and family—that made the year special.
n July I saw fireflies for the first time ever, swiftly followed by the second time ever (two different species). They’re absolutely magical.
I started biking again. It’d been a while.
It only took me 20 years, but I finally saw the Broadway version of The Lion King. It was pure magic and absolutely worth the wait.
I still can’t quite believe this one happened, but I got to see Hamilton! 100% lives up to the hype, and then some. I’m still not over how clever, funny, and heartfelt it is.
Made it to a couple of concerts! Saw We Banjo 3 for a second time (already got my tickets for a third!) and Gordon Lightfoot for a first… it was incredible to get to see such a legend perform.
I got to cat-sit my favorite kitty on several occasions! Last time, he even leapt out of one of his folk’s arms and into mine… something he’s never done before. High praise indeed (even if his adorable little claws were digging into my shoulder).
